Project 365 | Week 16

Home from Hawaii and thankfully much of our snow has melted.  Don’t get me wrong.  It’s going to be a long time before we experience temperatures anywhere close to the summery paradise of Honolulu, but in Manitoba anything above freezing is a win at this time of the year.

Easter is quickly approaching!  That means we have some baking to do.  It is our family tradition to bake German “paska”, a citrusy sweet bread that has been my favourite Easter treat every year since I was a little girl.  However, this year, for the first time ever, we did not bake it (although I am still toying with the idea of making it).  My children are excellent and oh so willing helpers in the kitchen, so, instead of the Easter bread we decided to bake sugar cookies.  On Easter morning many tasty treats were had.  Easter afternoon we headed over to spend some time with my brother and sister-in-law and their snuggly, sweet family.

And the rest of the week was filled with curly-toed hugs, finger puppets, wiggly silliness, and a couple of serene portraits.

My little puppy-lover was asked to be the official dog sitter for our neighbour’s family and I think, from this picture, that you can tell how great the honour was.  This is definitely a memory she will treasure!
